African Union Assessment Team in Uganda.

The African Union Assessment delegation for the bid hosting rights of the African Humanitarian Agency, came to Uganda to assess the country’s readiness to host the continental humanitarian agency.

This was their third stop visiting countries that bid to host the headquarters of the African Union Agency, Uganda being one of them.
They were received by Uganda’s Bid committee members led by the Attorney General, the Hon Kiryowa Kiwanuka, who is the head of the committee and hosted by H.E the president on their arrival to Uganda, and a the whole bid committee at State House Entebbe.

The opening ceremony of their assessment mission was at the common wealth resort in Munyonyo and it was presided over by the Rt. Hon. Rebecca Kadaga, the First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of East African Affairs, together with the Hon Kiryowa Kiwanuka, the Attorney General and also the Hon Hillary Onek, the Minister for Disaster Preparedness and Refugees.

Led by Mr. Robert Kasande the Permanent Secretary and head of Uganda’s Bid technical team, the assessment mission carried out other  activities which  included site visits to Uganda’s proposed site locations for the headquarters of the Agency in Lubowa, and also the proposed temporary accommodation where the offices shall be housed as construction of the permanent home is going on. They also visited amenities sites like Schools, Banks, Hospitals, Hotels and Conference Centers. They also visited different apartments for residences.  The team was also taken to a proposed temporary warehousing facility, which they can use as their own facility is being constructed.

The closing and bid documents handover ceremony took place at the Common Wealth Resort Munyonyo, presided over by Mr. Robert Kasande, the Permanent Secretary in his capacity as the head of Uganda’s Bid Technical Committee.  All documents pertaining to Uganda’s bid where handed over to the Head of Delegation, Professor Julio Rakatonirina, after all of them being certified and where all sealed for delivery to Addis Ababa, at the African Union Headquarters
