The Ministry has today held its first ever supplier conference at Statistics House in Kampala. The annual gathering is a forum where the Ministry leadership meets all its existing and potential suppliers and shares how the suppliers can participate more in government processes. The theme of this year was enhancing supplier compliance and participation in procurement and disposal processes.
The gathering had different facilitators who made presentations about specific procurement concepts and processes and were led by Mrs. Roselyn Mbabazi Tusime, the Head of the Ministry’s Procurement and Disposal Unit, who shared briefly about procurement in relation to the ministry of Justice and Constitutional Affairs.
The Executive Director of the Public Procurement and Disposal of Public Assets Authority, Mr. Benson Turamye shared with the participants about the recently amended PPDA Act, the PPDA regulations, and guidelines.
The Director Legal Advisory Services of the Ministry shared about the process of contract clearance, while Mr. Phillip Kasujja Kabuye from the EGP Secretariat presented about EGP and answered the queries that arose therein.
On behalf of the Ministry, the Under Secretary, Mrs. Nasuna Catherine opened and closed the event. In her opening remarks, she thanked the participants for honouring our invitation and coming in big numbers to the event and implored them to contribute positively to the discussions that shall go on throughout the whole conference. She concluded by assuring them of the Ministry’s willingness to honour its obligations to them, and also asked them to make sure they also keep their acts together and complete their processes on time to enable timely payments.
