Deputy Attorney General Represents H.E the President at the East African Law Society Conference, in Munyonyo.

The Deputy Attorney General, Hon Kafuuzi Jackson Karugaba has today represented H.E the President at the ongoing East African Law Society Conference at Speke Resort Munyonyo, where he delivered the speech of H.E the President to the attending lawyers from the different East African countries.

In the speech, H.E the President thanked the E.A Law Society and its members for serving the East Africans in their different countries well and emphasized their importance in the formation of the East African Federation, which he says shall be a stepping stone for the development of the people of East Africa.

H.E further thanked the lawyers for joining the poverty alleviation gospel where most have participated in income generating activities besides their legal work and thus employing other East Africans.

He appealed to them to study more on the laws that govern society noting that if lawyers and other intellectuals don’t master the laws, Africa as a whole shall continue to lag behind other continents in development.

H.E ended his speech by thanking the East African Law society for coming to Uganda and wished them fruitful deliberations for the reminder of their time at the conference.

The East Africa Law Society is the apex regional bar Association of East Africa jointly founded in 1995 by a group of Lawyers with the support of the leadership of the national Bar Associations of the member states. Its membership stretches over 28,000 lawyers and comprises of all the national bars in the East African Community i.e.  the Law Society of KenyaTanganyika Law SocietyUganda Law SocietyZanzibar Law SocietyRwanda Bar Association, Burundi Bar Association and the South Sudan Bar Association. The membership is both institutional as well as individual.

Its objective, as written on its website, is to Fast track the integration of East African communities through targeted support to cross-border commerce, the legal profession, civil societies, business communities, and governments.
