Pius Perry Biribonwoha Assumes Office as Solicitor General

Mr. Pius Perry Biribonwoha, who until 14th October has been the Deputy Solicitor General of Uganda, assumed office as the New Solicitor General of Uganda with effect from 15th October 2024, after he was recently appointed by His Excellency the President to the role.

He comes to the office with a wealth of experience gained from serving as the General Counsel of Parliament of Uganda and Director Legal and Legislative Services for a long time. He holds a Master’s Degree in Advanced Legislative Studies from the School of Advanced Study, Institute of Advanced Legal Studies, University of London (UK), Bachelor of Laws (Hons.) Degree from Makerere University Kampala, Uganda and a Post Graduate Diploma in Legal Practice (Bar Course) from the Law Development Centre Kampala.

He also holds an Executive Masters of Business Administration (MBA) from Edinburg Business School, Scotland and is a Certified Compliance Professional. He is an Advocate of the High Court of Uganda for over twenty three years, a member of the East African Law Society and Uganda Law Society, and also a member of the Commonwealth Association of Legislative Counsel (CALC), a founding member of the Africa Colloquium of Legal Counsel to Parliament, member of the International Bar Association, and also an Editorial member of the Oxford Statute Review Journal.
