The Minister of Justice and Constitutional Affairs, the Hon Norbert Mao, presided over the ground breaking ceremony for the construction of the Ministry of Justice and Constitutional Affairs, Regional Office in Soroti City.
The event started with a match through Soroti City led by the Soroti City brass band, together with the builders, and staff from the Ministry of Justice, SMS Construction, Oubuntu Consultants, and some invited guests.
After the prayer session led by Canon Sam Wairagala, the Deputy Senior Technical Advisor at the Governance and Security Program Secretariat, there was a brief site inspection led by the Contructor, SMS Construction Uganda Limited, which was then followed by a tree planting session, led by the Hon Minister, the Deputy Solicitor General, His Worship the Mayor and the Resident City Commissioner (RCC) of Soroti City.
In his remarks, the Hon Minister thanked the Consultant, MS Oubuntu Consults Limited for designing what he termed as a historic building that shall change the face of Soroti City, and also thanked the Contractor, SMS Construction Uganda Limited for the speed of works after achieving an overall construction progress of 30% while using only 20% of the time they have.
He also called on the advocates and staff that shall use the facility to serve the Ugandans that side with utmost dedication, cautioning them to avoid the tendency of people deployed upcountry to work for only three days a week, having Monday and Friday as travels days from and to Kampala respectively. He promised them to continue spearheading the efforts to see their working conditions continue to be improved.
